In this preview tutorial on Ableton Live 9 beta version, Martin Delaney showcases one of the most sought after function in the new version of Live 9: Conversion of audio files into MIDI data. Drum tracks, percussion tracks, but also harmony parts and melody lines can be very easily converted into MIDI data that will allow to change sound and individual notes within the newly created MIDI part. Audio to Midi conversion has never been so easy to perform as you just have to select an audio clip and choose which conversion mode is the most suitable regarding the audio material you want to convert: three different choices are available, rhythm, harmony and melody. Martin showcases this new features of Live 9 on several types of audio, including a drum part, a percussion part, a piano part with chords, a melody synth line and even the full mix !
